Here are our team of highly skilled individuals that work with the Patients’ Advocacy Service. The information below will tell you a little bit about who each of us are and what our role is.
Rebecca Carr

Rebecca Carr

Manager

I have been working in forensic mental health for over a decade. As soon as I began working in a secure environment I knew this was the field of work I wanted to be involved in. I started off as an administrator before progressing to collective advocacy and then an advocate in a medium, low and community setting. I moved to PAS in 2015 as an independent advocate. My undergraduate degree was in Psychological and Criminology studies in 2013 allowing me to move on to an MSc in Forensic Mental Health. Independent advocacy is an excellent field to work in and allows me the opportunity to help support individuals to have their voice heard. I have been the manager of the PAS service since 2020, which during the pandemic was a challenge. I am keen to enhance and adjust our services to the patient population to offer the best service we can with our extremely dedicated team.

Advocate

I joined the Patients’ Advocacy Service in 2020 as an Administrator. Having always had a keen interest in Forensic Mental Health, I then put myself forward to become a Volunteer Advocate. Since beginning my volunteer work, I have completed a Forensic Mental Health course. I was lucky enough to secure a permanent position within PAS as an independent advocate. I feel very passionate about my role and hope to further develop myself within PAS.

Advocate

I am an Independent Advocate who has worked with PAS since 2016. Beginning as the Administrator, I also volunteered as an Advocate alongside completing a BSc in Psychology through the Open University. Completing the degree gave me a passion for Forensic Mental Health and ensuring patients within The State Hospital are given a voice.
